As a foster care alumni, Victor Sims has dedicated his life’s work to a Re-Envisioning of Foster Care in America.

April 16th, 2021 – Lakewood, NJ – Victor Sims is a Management Consultant at Public Knowledge® specializing in Child Welfare and was named a 2021 REFCA Champion by the Treehouse Foundation. His dedication to both his personal and professional work is fueled by his passion for children and youth living in foster care as he did. He is focused on transforming foster care by inspiring change and applying his perspectives along the way.

Victor has made a tremendous impact at our firm in so many ways. So I’m not surprised that he is being honored in this way. He’s one of our leaders setting the strategy for our diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging work. He has stepped into key roles on projects to support efforts to return power to families in the child welfare field. And most importantly, he brings his full authentic self and impressive energy to work each and every day; inspiring our team, our clients, and myself. He jokes that PK stands for #perfectlykind and that his onboarding experience with our firm was full of kindness, but what he doesn’t know is that kindness is fueled by his own passion and we are the lucky ones to be able to work with him. I can’t wait to see what Victor does with his career, I know it will be one for the books! I’m honored to be able to watch him and support him in this chapter.

Victor spent the first 11 years of his life in foster care and this inspired him to embark on a career as a case manager and now a management consultant. He continues to champion this cause and is an exceptional advocate for the nation’s children and youth living in foster care. He was named a Reunification Hero, in 2019, by the American Bar Association due to his prioritization of reunification for every family he serves. While reunification wasn’t possible for him and his birth parents, he understands its importance for families.
