Meet Julie, Child Welfare Subject Matter Expert
- Has worked with several states as a child welfare subject matter expert in developing solutions for their comprehensive child welfare information systems.
- Over 20 years of experience in child welfare leadership and has held senior-level positions with statewide responsibilities.
- Provided technical assistance for the Children’s Bureau and helped several states conduct needs assessments, explore problems more deeply, and identify potential solutions for implementation.
- Has extensive experience in child welfare training; she trained 6,000 child welfare and family independence staff in best practices, policies, and preferred behaviors in working with children, youth, and families.
Working Towards Transformational Change in Child Welfare
Family Integrity & Justice Works (FIJ Works) Demonstration Sites are the child welfare-focused area of Public Knowledge® created to catalyze and take bold action toward creating a new approach to child welfare that honors the power of families and communities. Our FIJ Works Demonstration Sites partner with local communities, counties, and states to shift powers back to families through preventative, community-based services.
Modifying the current child welfare system in the United States does not address the fundamental changes needed; replacement with more informed and family-centered approaches is essential.
