Women’s History Month

March 1, 2026

Women’s History Month highlights the lasting impact of women across generations. The 2026 theme from the National Women’s History Alliance, Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future. It recognizes women whose leadership has shaped systems and continues to influence society today.

Women in Policy and Public Systems

Women have played a defining role in strengthening public policy. Frances Perkins, the first woman to serve in a U.S. Cabinet position, helped establish Social Security and unemployment insurance, programs that continue to influence economic security today. Janet Yellen has shaped fiscal and economic policy through her leadership at the Federal Reserve and the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Cecilia Rouse has contributed to economic policy oversight as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Their roles reflect the continued influence of women in guiding policy development, analysis, and institutional stewardship. Across history, women’s leadership has consistently guided decision-making processes and the structures that support long-term stability.

Advancing Healthcare Leadership

Women have long influenced healthcare and public health systems. Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell was the first woman to earn a medical degree in the United States, expanding opportunities for women in medicine and advancing patient-centered care. Today, leaders like Dr. Leana Wen continue to impact public health policy and system planning, demonstrating how women’s leadership supports innovation and institutional resilience.

Building for the Long Term

This year’s theme highlights leadership focused on long-term impact and building institutional strength. During Women’s History Month, we celebrate the ways women’s leadership has shaped systems and continues to influence communities. As we reflect on our management consulting firm’s mission and the meaning of this month, it’s clear that our foundation in advancement and innovation is inspired and driven by our status as a woman-led organization.
