What Comes Next for Human Services Technology – Season 4, Episode 6

Human services agencies share a goal of improving service delivery, but their paths to modernization look different. Procurement requirements and available resources shape what each agency can take on. New technologies bring further questions about readiness and responsible use.

Stacey is joined by Mark Allen, Chief Information Officer at the Mississippi Department of Human Services and ISM Chair, to reflect on the 2026 ISM conference and the decisions shaping human services technology. Mark shares Mississippi’s approach to replacing five connected systems and explains why AI adoption requires clear policies before broader employee use.

The conversation also explores what agencies need from their industry partners. Mark emphasizes the value of honest guidance and ongoing peer relationships that help leaders learn from experiences beyond their own state.
