Supporting families and strengthening communities.
Child Support Awareness Month recognizes the essential role child support services play in supporting children and families. This year is significant as it marks 50 years of the Federal Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) and state child support agencies working to ensure children receive the financial and medical support they need from both parents.
A Holistic Approach to Supporting Families
The child support program is about more than just transferring payments from one parent to another. It helps establish parentage, modify and enforce support orders, and ensure medical support. Collaboration with partners tackles issues like domestic violence and unemployment.

The program addresses these complex issues and creates pathways for parents to meet their responsibilities. This ensures that children grow up in stable, nurturing environments. In doing so, the program encourages not only financial security but also stronger relationships between parents and children, leading to better long-term outcomes for families.
