United States – September 20, 2022 – Building on the success of The Family Integrity & Justice Works at Public Knowledge®, the firm is pleased to launch a new collaboration with Jerry Milner and David Kelly to advance their shared vision for child welfare in the United States.  Over the past sixteen months, interest in replacement and transformation in child welfare has been extensive. To expand collective reach on Child Welfare replacement efforts, FIJW Co-Directors Jerry Milner and David Kelly are leaving Public Knowledge® to form The Family Justice Group, LLC, beginning in October 2022.  Advocacy and elevating lived expertise will be central to the venture, just as it has been at Public Knowledge®.

The firm created FIJW to cultivate a new unconventional, forward-thinking approach to generate results for children and families. These demonstration sites are committed to replacing the current system to yield lasting change in Child Welfare. Public Knowledge® will continue to further this work throughout the nation. They are also committed to partnering with like-minded organizations, like The Family Justice Group, LLC, to strengthen the impact, promote continued advocacy, and encourage essential collaboration. This work will not be successful unless a large majority of organizations are working on it. 

Under the leadership of Jerry and David, Public Knowledge® achieved the production of the Family Integrity and Justice Quarterly, a peer-reviewed journal driven by lived expertise. This publication has elevated the voices of lived expertise from parents, youth, tribes, researchers, practitioners, and more. The journal is a powerful educational tool and one that has been a significant outcome of their time at Public Knowledge®. David and Jerry will continue the journal under a new name to be announced shortly.
