SLI is pleased to announce that Diane Potts has been named the Director of Child Support Services for the Center for Support of Families (CSF) Division of SLI Government Solutions.

SILVER SPRING, MD (January 31, 2019) Diane joins Kathy Sokolik, Vice President of the Child Support practice, as they drive the firm’s efforts as a leader in helping government agencies improve the lives of children. Diane will continue her thought-leadership role at SLI as an active member of the National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA). She will also be responsible for ensuring that projects and staff under her direction have the resources needed to ensure the highest quality services and deliverables. Her new role also includes working with existing and potential clients to identify areas of training, process improvement, policy and procedures where agencies can benefit from CSF’s services and expertise.

About her new role, Diane commented “It is an honor to join the exceptional leadership of SLI. I am excited about my new role as Director and the increased opportunities that I will have to work with my colleagues at all levels of the child support program. As we look to the future of the Title IV-D program, I am committed to helping programs throughout the country shape innovative policies and practices that will result in more effective and efficient child support services, more families in the child support program, and ultimately more children receiving the child support they deserve.”

Diane’s background, education and national reputation made her an ideal candidate for this role. Diane has served as an administrator, litigator, and policy consultant in child support for 23 years. She joined CSF in 2015 where her work has focused on national child support policies involving intergovernmental issues, parentage, procedural justice, and low-income parents. She has provided national and regional training to child support professionals on a variety of topics including intergovernmental laws and case processing, parentage laws and modern family dynamics, procedural justice and civil contempt policies, and customer service. Active in the national child support community, Diane served as President of NCSEA in 2017-2018, NCSEA’s Secretary in 2016-2017, NCSEA’s Policy Forum Co-Chair in 2019, 2016, and 2015, and member of NCSEA’s Board of Directors since 2013. She was also an official observer to the Uniform Law Commission’s revision of the Uniform Parentage Act from 2015–2017, and currently is on the Commission’s Enactment Committee.

“Like all who have worked with Diane,” stated Kathy Sokolik, “I know her as a leader dedicated to the continued improvement of the nation’s child support program. Her energy and knowledge combine to make her natural to succeed in this new position. I could not be more pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with Diane as we continue to expand our child support practice”

Prior to joining CSF, Diane served for six years as the Illinois Deputy Attorney General for Child Support, where she drafted important new parentage and income shares child support legislation for Illinois, implemented new policies on civil contempt and litigated several significant child support and parentage cases in the Illinois Supreme Court. Widely recognized in the child support community for her service, in 2015 Diane was awarded the Illinois Family Support Enforcement Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. Steven Esposito, President, and CEO of SLI commented “I am delighted to have Diane join SLI’s leadership team as we embark on the next phase of our strategic plan to expand our services to federal, state, tribal, and local governments. Her deep knowledge of child support policy and practice, her proven leadership skills, and the respect she enjoys in the child support community will certainly enhance the industry-leading position of CSF’s Child Support practice.”
