The National Child Support Enforcement Association (NCSEA) 2022 Policy Forum dedicates its energies to issues and policies affecting child support programs at the local, state, and national levels. The three-day conference, centered on policy visions and developments in the national child support program, was a hybrid event with attendees both virtual and in-person in Washington, D.C.

Policy Reasons to Proactively Encourage Genetic Testing Paternity 

At the NCSEA 2022 Policy Forum, Lara joined Professor Nara Milanich, author of Paternity: The Elusive Quest for the Father, Ryan Bradley, Policy and Paternity Unit Supervisor of the Georgia Division of Child Support Services, and Laura Roth, Child Support Practice Lead of CGI, as moderator. The session discussed policy reasons to proactively encourage genetic testing before establishing paternity orders. Lara, a former county prosecutor in Missouri and now a consultant with PK shared her experience working in a pro-biology state. Lara shared her four main reasons for genetic testing: financial, emotional, medical, and family planning.

Diane shared her expertise at two plenary sessions, one focusing on current innovative program policies and the other focused on discussing problematic areas within child support. Additionally, she shared PK’s focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the firm.
